Chemotherapy is the treatment of cancer that uses powerful drugs, to kill cancer cells, control their growth, or relieve pain symptoms. Chemotherapy may involve one drug, or a combination of two or more drugs, depending on the type of cancer and its rate of progression. Chemotherapy may be used in combination with other treatments such as surgery or radiation therapy, in order to ensure all cancer cells have been eliminated. Systemic chemotherapy may be delivered intravenously through the bloodstream or orally, in order to reach cancer cells throughout the body. Chemotherapy is administered in mainly three ways, namely Intravenously (IV), Oral Chemotherapy or through Intrathecal.
