Aditya Birla Memorial Hospital offers, highly conformal radiation treatments that destroy the reproductive ability of cancer cells, targeting the cancer so precisely that side effects are minimal, and there is little or no damage to the surrounding tissues. The techniques used at our cancer wing are, Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT), Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT), Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), 3D Conformal Radiotherapy (3DCRT) and above all, Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT) with Active Breathing Coordinator (ABC), takings optimum care to spare normal tissues, and lessen the damage to other organs surrounding the area of radiation. Additionally, our Flattening Filter Free (FFF) Radiation therapy â€“ Puneâ€™s first, makes the procedure 3 times faster than the normal procedure for patient comfort and accuracy. This is further combined with ultra-fast leaf speed of Agility MLC for precision treatment.
The hospital is equipped with a state-of-the-art Linear Accelerator that offers highest accuracy, and flexible radiation delivery methods that can be programmed to match the type, size and exact shape of the tumour. We are the first hospital in Maharashtra and only the second hospital in India to commission the latest model of Linear Accelerator, Versa HD with 6D couch, from Elekta. Integrated with Elektaâ€™s recently launched Agility 160-leaf multileaf collimator (MLC), Versa HD provides highly conformal beam shaping - a critical requirement for maximizing the dose to the precise target. Importantly, this high targeting accuracy is available over a large field-of-view, permitting delivery of high-definition (HD) beams to a wide spectrum, of complex targets. With a choice of multiple energies of electron beams in the same machine, the superficial tumours can be targeted easily.
With this ground breaking combination, our clinicians can now, for the first time, take full advantage of higher dose rate delivery, enabling greater capabilities for sophisticated therapies, including intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), image guided radiotherapy (IGRT), volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT), stereotactic radiotherapy (SRT) and stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), along with the widest cone bean CT (CBCT).

- Monte Carlo Biological Algorithm: Treatment plan is generated by MONACO TPS which works on Monte Carlo biological based algorithm
- Oncentra Master Plan: Generates brachytherapy plan to deliver internal radiation by using radioactive source
- For the first time in Pune - Octavius 4D: Treatment plan verification by 4 dimensional patient phantom before executing the plan on patient. The intention is to make sure the radiation dose, what we have planned in the computer, is actually being delivered to the patient, thereby, offering assurance for accurate delivery of radiation.
