Aditya Birla Foundation
The Aditya Birla Foundation, chaired by Mrs.
Rajashree Birla, is a public charitable trust
established in 1995 in memory of the late Mr.
Aditya Vikram Birla. The Aditya Birla Group,
a US$ 7.59 billion conglomerate, believes in
the trusteeship concept of management. A part
of the Group's profits is ploughed back into
welfare-driven initiatives through the Aditya
Birla Foundation.
The foundation focuses on education, balwadis
/ schools, healthcare centres, infrastructure
development such as community centres, houses,
providing electricity, water channels, etc.
The Aditya Birla Memorial Hospital is being
funded by the Aditya Birla Foundation.
The foundation also runs 15 hospitals in various
industrial units. It organises mobile clinics,
medical camps and conducts health training and
awareness workshops in rural communities. Efforts
are now being made through the foundation to
facilitate widow / dowryless mass marriages
and women empowerment. As part of community
service, the foundation is reaching out to two
million people in about 3,000 villages.
