India
commissioning OPD services today
Mr. Aditya Vikram Birla had envisioned a world-class
healthcare institution. Mrs. Rajashree Birla's
indefatigable efforts lead to this dream's realisation.
Aditya Birla Memorial Hospital (ABMH) is a homage
to the memory of late Mr. Aditya Birla.
ABMH a 500-bed multidisciplinary healthcare
institution sprawled over 16 acres of land,
with 438,000 square feet built-up area, 13 operation
theatres, 125 ICU bed complex, 60 consulting
rooms, 30 procedure rooms, stand-alone accident
and emergency centre, mother and child health
institute, wellness assessment center, day care
center, dialysis centre, a variety of patient
care areas, very large diagnostic service complex
to support a super-specialty quaternary, state-of-the-art
hospital. The hospital can appropriately be
called a medicity.
This medicity is aiming to provide world-class
total healthcare solutions at an affordable
cost.
The hospital will provide advanced healthcare
services in therapeutic, preventive and rehabilitative
care to not only the entire population of Maharashtra
but western India as well.
ABMH is located close to the new Mumbai-Pune
express highway. The medicity will cater not
only to the Pune, PCMC area but to nearby districts
such as Nasik, Dhule, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur,
Ratnagiri and even the bordering areas of neighboring
states.
The medicity will be within reach
for all sections of society and areas.
Renowned urologist Dr Patrick Walsh of Johns
Hopkins, on his visit to the hospital, has appreciated
this institute as the Mayo Clinic of Asia.
The building has inspired many leading
healthcare planners and architects, says
the CEO of ABMH, Dr. B. K. Trivedi.
The OPD services are being launched today.
Dr. B. K. Trivedi calls this Rs.140-crore project
a Silent revolution in healthcare where
best technology humo digital network will be
working in an integrated manner."
A hi-tech approach
ABMH, which is centrally air-conditioned, will
function in a film-less and paperless digital
environment backed by cutting-edge medical technology.
The 13 operation theatres are equipped with
ultramodern technology. "We will be capable
of conducting complex surgeries for ear, brain,
lung, bones, joints and a host of other surgeries
just to name a few," informs Dr. Trivedi.
The cutting-edge diagnostic service will offer
MRIs (1.5 tesla), 64-slice CT scan, flat panel
cath lab, colour doppler, ultra sound, mammography,
echo, computerised stress test, etc.
A high-tech ambulance, equipped with defibrillators,
portable ventilators, suction apparatus oxygen,
etc and manned by paramedics will be on call
round the clock to tackle roadside accidents
and emergencies.
The OPD complex
When one enters the hospital premises, one cannot
fail to notice a beautiful fountain meant to
soothe frayed nerves. The three-story outpatient
department (OPD) is located near the fountain.
This OPD complex is perhaps one of the largest
in India which includes 60 consulting rooms
and 30 procedure rooms. There are 150 doctors
serving OPD patients.
Offerings
The medicity will provide treatment in major
specialties like cardiology, neurology, orthopaedics,
trauma care, gynaecology, GI and ophthalmology.
It will also offer sub-specialty treatment for
all major specialties. For instance, in paediatrics,
it will offer paediatric neurology, paediatric
cardiology, paediatric surgery and paediatric
nephrology.
It blends modern and traditional
healthcare.
Complying with international standards
"Building a world-class hospital"
as the motto, it is no wonder that the hospital
has followed international guidelines. The piped
medical gas is in compliance with the European
standard - HTM2002, while breathing air quality
will follow EN737 standard.
With its mission for compassionate quality healthcare
the Aditya Birla Memorial Medicity is ready
to offer its services to all sections of society.
